If you're looking for the Halo killer, you'll have to play Halo 2.

User Rating: 6 | Killzone PS2
I've played Killzone for about half an hour, and I have to say that I'm not too impressed by what I saw. I wasn't expecting the "Halo-killer" that was advertised. That moniker has been used far too many times for publicity purposes. And most of the cames that tote that saying usually flop. This is one of those games. The graphics are on par with the PS2's capabilities. But the animation is atrocious. The death animations especially get low scores. I can't imagine how someone dreamt up those animations to play in Killzone's engine. Maybe they looked better on paper. The sounds are alright. I find that the Hellghasts' voices are done with German accents. Voice acting could have used some polishing, but it's not too bad. The guns' sounds are nothing to be impressed about, either. They all sound the same. As far as actual gameplay is concerned, it's definitely a FPS. What were you looking for, brilliance in a mundane design? Let's face it. Half-life set the bar really high for gameplay. Halo incorporated good graphics and fun vehicle design. Halo 2 raised the bar up a couple of notches on that one. And even that could be debated. Overall value? There isn't a whole helluva lot to speak of here. It's just another FPS. Killzone can be fun for the first 30-45 minutes. But after that . . . it would depend upon the individual playing the game. I wish this game had a better team for the development. And I wish people would quit calling games "The Halo Killer". Come on folks, just make the game. We'll decide for ourselves.
