Pretty good... I guess...

(First thing's first. Some people that say "My review is unbiased!" is usually biased. How can you be sure? If they ever use the word "I" as in "I thought..." or "I think that..." or something like that, it's biased. I'm not saying that my review is unbiased however, I'm just making you all aware. I have tried to keep my review as unbiased as possible though.) This was a pretty good game. The first time I played it, I couldn't stop. It was just so fun, despite a number of glitches in the game. It can be recommended that you buy the network adapter for your PS2 if you're going to buy this game, as it gives it more life. Gameplay: It's a first person shooter, you go around and shoot people... in the first person (go figure). You can choose up to four different characters to play as, and each of them has their own personality and characteristics. They each also have their own starting weapon. Luger, the assassin, starts with a knife and some sort of silenced weapon (Well I'm guessing it's silenced. It looks like their's a silencer on it, but on multiplayer I can hear it a lot). Hakha, the spy, starts with a Helghast Assault Rifle and a knife. Rico, the walking tank, starts with a chaingun and a pistol. Last but not least, Templar, the balanced guy, starts with a ISA Assault Rifle and grenade launcher and a pistol. Throughout levels, you may (or may not) find yourself using Helghast weapons more than your own, as you may run out of ammunition (unless you find some dead ISA guy with a ISA weapon, or sometimes there's ammunition for ISA weapons laying around). The story is pretty good, but feels incomplete. At the end, the war is still being waged, and you may never know the outcome, unless a sequel is made. There are some things that make the gameplay pretty cool tho, like if you throw a grenade by a water jug, the jug flies away when your grenade blows. Little things like this make the game that much better. Overall, the gameplay was pretty good. Graphics: There were good graphics for this game. Maybe too good for the PS2 to handle. Despite the fact that the cutscenes look nice, regular gameplay graphics look kind of weird at times. Like you could be standing near a ally, looking at his uniform, and then suddenly and spontaneously, his uniform would change how it looks and sometimes even it's color (or maybe it's not the PS2's fault, but I guess we'll never know...). So the oxymoron applies here, "It's so good, it's bad". Sound: The sounds are really good. The shooting sounds pretty realistic, and the explosions were pretty nice. The only reason I never gave this game a Perfect for sound, is that you can constantly hear your enemies (and even your allies) talking and screaming, and this could get really annoying, especially hearing the same scream over and over and over again. Value: Very bad value. This is a incredibly linear game. You usually only have one path you can go in each level, and this could get really predictable. Once you play through the whole game once (and it doesn't take that long), you probably won't play it again. If you buy this game, it is suggested getting the network adapter so you can play online. My opinion: Don't buy this game unless you find it for cheap. If you really want to buy it though, rent it first and see how it is. You'll probably beat it within the time you're renting it. If your local Blockbuster (or whatever game/video rental store you go to) doesn't have it to rent, trust me, you can wait for a copy to become available. Don't go out and risk buying it when you may not even like it. All in all, this is a pretty good game, but may not be worth your $50. You decide. Maybe twenty or thirty dollars at the most. Still, if you enjoy FPS games and enjoy playing online, this game is easily recommendable.
