After reading the review on Gamespot I was quite shocked to hear how so much hype was built up about this game yet how it ultimately failed to deliver. Personally, I trust gamespots reviews to the letter, a certain offical magazine gave MOH: rising sun a 9/10 while gamespot gave it the well deserved 6.7, once again this official mag gave another big named shooter than 9/10 and once again gamepost gave it a considerably lower score yet for once I do not entirely agree with it. I played Killzone and there are so many little touches that made me love the game, even if the technical flaws can sometimes be a burden. The graphics for one have an amazing art design that give this game a look like no other, just look at the sky in the slums level to see a brilliant use of a grain filter as the light shines down. The helghast look incredible and are much more interesting that many other cannon fother in recent FPSs. Also, I rarely encountered any lag and while reading other reviews found that some found none at all and my poor, old, decrepid PS2 is over 3 years old, it was one of the first to come out yet plays this perfectly. The animations are great, no other FPS ever shows the camra tilting from side to side while you reload or jump over a wall in a way that truly emerses you like this game did. The sound is just as impressive and while the voices do get repetitive the way the heghast speak in muffled tones helps add to the whole atmosphere, they're wearing big helmets with tubes in them for crying out loud, what do you expect? Frank Sinatra to start singing 'come fly with me' every time you shoot them? The music is also so good that it nearly tops the graphics in what sets this game apart from others, only the scores in MOH beat it in shear grandeur and scale. Even with the somehwhat eratic AI that sometimes darts behind cover or just looks blankly at you the gameplay is fun and satisfying and while the game feels more like a back to back run of rminor skirmishes than a full out war its just great to give those Helghast a little payback.
This game is not a Halo 1 killer, however it is a super fabulous fps, with an awesome story.... Graphics don't make a game, but they help in Killzone. Overall, this game has better graphics than Halo 2! That is my opi... Read Full Review
