~King of the Monsters is a genuinely suprising game when you get right down to it. It's a 2D arcade fighting game with slightly disappointing graphics, but not awful for it's time. At it's core, King of the Monsters is a wrestling game, with Six different giant monsters to choose from. You can fight your friends, or team up with them to fight the computers, who are slightly very very hard. Regardless, as a wrestling game, it's pretty much everything you'd want! You have the ability to run to the sides of the screen in order to turn around and knock over your opponents, at which point you can attack over their bodies to jump on them and attempt a pin. Continuous attacks will also knock down your opponent. There are two types of attacks and two types of grappling, just like in the second game. Each player also has a health bar, but contrary to most fighting games you or your opponent do not lose when it runs out. The lower that bar gets, the easier it is to pin your opponent. Underneath the out-dated graphics lies a very entertaining wrestling game with interesting characters and a decent fighting system. Play it next time you see it at the arcade. Or get it on MAME!
