Even with little replay value and a long drawn out prologue, Kingdom Hearts 2 is just as fun to play as the first one.
First of all, the gameplay in this is very good and will keep you occupied in each of the levels, what with all of the various cutscenes and bosses and such. Although some of the stuff is a little cheesy, especially when the Square characters talk, because the Disney characters basically say stuff taken directly from their movies. But this really isn't that bad and it mostly occurs in the beginning of the game.
Let's talk about the prologue. It is WAY TOO LONG, this will seriously take you about three hours if you’re just getting acquainted with this series, or if you just want to explore stuff, it is just too over-done. But if this is your first KH (Kingdom Hearts) game that you've played, than this will definitely tell you hat happened in the first game and the GBA release, Chain of Memories.
The graphics in the game are very good and the little details that they put into the backgrounds help a lot. Even though standing there and looking at the scenery probably won’t be the first thing that goes into your mind in this game.
The game's soundtrack is very impressive and it features so many good songs on it, the only thing that would weigh it down is one of the songs from Atlantica, Ursula's Revenge.
The enemies in the game feature a large amount of a returning enemy, the heartless, but it features a new enemy type as well, the Nobodies. These creatures you will see mainly in the beginning of the game, and then once again in the end, in the middle is mostly heartless. Kingdom Hearts 2's boss fights are very good and all of them definitely have a much different feel to them, and some you fight in a special way, like when you fight Genie Jafar, you ride on the Magic Carpet and fight him.
If you manage to get past the long drawn out prologue, then you'll be able to enjoy a good, solid playing experience, that you really can only play one time through, unless you want to fully complete jiminy's journal the second time around. But the game has so much to do the first time through that you pretty much are satisfied in the end.
