it could have been a masterpiece...

a long time ago, a weird game came out. you were a young boy who lost two friends, and were looking for them. a weird key looking weapon (and it is both, a key and a weapon) appeared in your hands anytime you needed it. was a great power against those monsters who were looking for the hearts of the people, and that were everywhere around. looking for your friends, you meet different types of these monsters pretty much everywhere. and with that weapon you had to find your friends and to seal the hearts of the worlds, so that the monsters would not get in.
the strangest thing in the game was that goofy and donald duck were with you along the search. they were looking for king mickey (mouse, of course), who, before he left the disney castle, told them to team up and stick with you. so you had to go around, looking for your friends and the king in the different disney's worlds, as agrabah, the little murmaid's wolrd and excetera. every now and then a character from the final fantasy series appeared, and they were all cool. well, most of them, at least...
the thing that surprised was that the game, whose target wwas childs and kids, had a surprisingly high amount of adults playing it. may be for the final fantasy characters, or because the game was really well made, and the disney characters were convincing: they had personalities just like in the movies, but the stories of every single world were not just a mere fotocopy of the movies, but they lived of their own life.

kingdom hearts 2 was a game long awaited from many people. and, i'm afraid to say, it is a step behind the first one. nothing has changed. at all!

the graphics is pretty well made. no slowing down even in the most confunionary points. there's a moment you fight against i believe four houndred of monsters of two kinds (i'm not kidding), and it doesn't have any problem of any kind. every world is also well made, and looks really convincing, just like if taken directly from the movie. also the characters are real convincing, graphically: for example, ping (mulan when is pretending to be a guy) moves goofy. when she moves like mulan, her movements are more graceful. the beast jumps on enemies as always, and so on for all the characters, both disney or from the ff world. voices and musics are perfect. i personally don't understand much of donald's talking, but that has probably more to do to the fact i'm not english. the voices of the final fantasy characters are well... i've always imagined seph or cloud with those voices! the only two things i didn't like were that sometimes there's no speaking in points that would have been nice, while there some speaking in parts where there's no point of doing that. just too short!. i didn't also like much the little murmaid's world, too many songs. but i want to understand that's not a problem of the game. it's only a matter of personal taste.

the gameplay is exactly the same of the first game. easy, direct, solid and quick to master. the only flaw i've found is that when there are six or more enemies on the screen, there's no way you can fix target the one you want at the first try.

and now the bad notes:
the story is supposed to be breath taking. it is not. it's a good story, i promise you will like it, but still,... it is always the same you've found when you saw the movie in the cinema. for ex: in the pride lands, were the simba is, you face the exact the same story of the lion king, only with heartless as an excuse of the cruelty of scar, the bad guy. the little murmaid doesn't even have that differences: it is just the same thing you've seen in the teatres! a great world is the hercules world, but it get ruined by the fact you face the exact same guys of the first kh! i mean, i'm tired of facing cerberus... and where they tried to change the story, the characters got only... well, too different from the ones you have learned to love on the screen. jack sparrow isn't just convincing: it moves all rigtht and it looks great, but it doesn't act like captain jack sparrow, but only as a good guy who pretends to be a bad guy. the beast is not wuite convincing. i mean, it does roar a lot, but it's compleatly different from the beast of the first kh. jack skeletron is plainly stupid (i'm sorry to say this, i'm a big fan of jack skeletron, but in this game is stupid).
good thing that you can fight along with ff characters every now and then. they also appear a lot, but i would have liked them to be more... "interactive". like fighting seph alongside of cloud and stuff like that.
and about the story: first, if the nobodies are born when the heartless are and are so powerful and important, why they never even get nominated in the first episode.
second: if the king's so strong, why hasn't he devastated organization XIII all by himself? or the heartless...
third: yen sid, or what the hell his name is: if he's so powerful and wise, can't he tell a bit more, or just defend himsef from pete and his heartless?
fouth why on earth all the heartless are so brainless? i mean, even the most powerfull ones like scar, jafar or hades don't even think of joining up.

it is not a bad story, after all, it is just already seen!

and, even in the hardest difficulty, it's not a challange. even seph isn't the challange i was expecting. don't take me wrong, it is tough, it just isn't that tough...

still, the game is full of stuff you will love: pete, the timeless river, he holimpus coliseum and halloween town.

a thing that annoied me much was that the locations were kind of smaller, and with many less secrets area to discover. in fact, many of them don't have secret areas you can go only with the super jump or the float ability...

this is a great game, after all, and i garantee you'll have a great time on it. just don't expect anything revolutionary (or even different from the first one), or a masterpiece.
