Improves on everything, except the game play.
For those of you who missed out on the first outing in the KH franchise. The game works like this you play as flamboyant Sora and his pals Donald and Goofy. They are constantly looking for their friends King Mickey, Riku, and Kari. Their search leads to a collection of Disney-movie themed worlds. Many of the these worlds were recycled from the first game Aladdin, Little Mermaid, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Hercules, and Winne the Pooh. The game also comes with a host of new worlds Tron, Mulan, Beauty and The Beast, Lion King, Pirates of The Caribbean, and Steamboat Willie. The worlds contain classic characters and events from the movies it also has the cameo appearance of a Final Fantasy character or two.
The worlds you visit are brought to life with beautiful visuals that really give the feel of the movies you watched as a child. A big improvement from the original (the graphics in that weren't bad at all though) but visuals aren't what the whole game's about. The game also improves on the story, which believe it or not will keep you engrossed and hooked, something I don't think the first one actually had. Although I want get into too much detail but the game begins with many surprises and twists. The music is also actually very good aside from the nauseating pop song at the beginning the game hosts a great musical score from original pieces and songs from the Disney franchises.
Although that's the improvements of the game the hugest flaw is the game play. The only word that fits it is shallow. You'll be mashing the attack button while the hectic action swirls around the screen. One thing I actually liked about the combat was the God Of War action commands that trigger special events with a sequence of buttons. Although beside that it's hack n' slash with little strategy and actual RPG. It's good probably the best in as far as action RPGs go, but this game was spent on some much with money and time. It's just a little disappointing.
Overall if you played the original you owe yourself to get your hands on this. You may be slightly unsettled by the combat the rest of the game is just a complete joy to play.
