Intro
Kingdom Hearts is hard to explain in just a few words. It is very unique, as others may argue.

Story
The game begins on Destiny Islands. Sora, along with his friends, Riku and Kairi, one day build a raft in hope of setting off from their island in search of other worlds, something which they had constantly pondered about. The night before they set off, strange creatures appear. Sora manages to fight them off with a newly acquired weapon-the keyblade. Despite his efforts, the island is thrust in destruction as a storm tears the island away. Sora wakes up in a strange town, and has almost no idea what he has gotten himself in to.

Graphics
The Graphics are really nice from a technical standpoint. The Characters are all smoothly animated and the areas of the game are pretty good looking too, despite some of them being kind of bland. The magic effects and summons are all excellent as well. Overall, it’s good looking with some minor spark missing.

Gameplay
Fun. Sora has four basic commands in battle: Attack, which makes Sora swipe at enemies with whatever keyblade he has equipped, Magic, which will allow Sora to use a variety of defensive and offensive spells, Item, which, of course, allows Sora to use items he brings in to battle, and the last command, which is used for special moves. Most of the time you are up against the heartless. All of the heartless have unique patterns, so you'll probably want to figure them out for an easier time. You are bound to use your magic fairly often, as some of the later battles can be difficult, especially the optional ones. Your team mates act on their own, although you can configure their battle style in the menu. As you battle, you will gain levels. Each level up will grant you only one stat increase-not multiple ones. Other times you may gain an extra Item slot, allowing you to use more items in battle, or extra accessory slot. Over the course of the game, you and your party members will learn abilities. While most of them bolster Sora's performance in battle, others are required to finish the game. The effects have good variety, even though some of them just stack over at certain levels. Some may cause Sora to execute a rather handy dodge roll, while others will make more munny appear after battle. Some of the choices you make earlier in the game will affect how Sora learns these skills. Magic is interesting. Some spells like Thunder cover the entire battle field with lightning, while others such as Aero will protect Sora with a shield. While there are few magic spells, they all level up during the course of the game, each getting stronger/more useful. Summons are controlled by you and often replace the attack command with something more unique. All of the Summons are Disney based, so you’ll find yourself flying on Dumbos back squirting water at enemies, or having Mushu stand on Soras head and fire , well, fire in rapid succession. Item should be self explanatory. Each character has a set number of Item slots which allow you to take potions and what have you in to battle. Each character has a limited number of Item slots; some more than others. The bottom command uses Specials moves which must be equipped as abilities before Sora may use them. Although some of them have tricky timing, mastering them is well worth the effort. The other side of the game is the Gummi ship, the vessel which allows you to travel around worlds. You can build gummi ships with various gummi blocks you find during the game, or you can use blueprints. To be honest, it really isn’t worth the trouble. While it certainly has some nice ideas, it is indeed possible to get through the entire game alone on the default gummi ship. Battle in interspace really isn’t too hard itself. You can shoot down enemies and get gummi blocks from them but again, it just isn’t worth the trouble. You’d most likely have much less trouble by just ignoring the heartless ships altogether. Thankfully, for those who don’t enjoy gummi ship travel, there is a warp function found early enough in the game, so after you’ve travelled to an area at least once, you can just warp there straight away.

Music
There is some good music here and there, and plenty of annoying songs as well. Under the sea really got on my nerves. The sounds are crisp and clear. Some of the voice acting is good, and in other places it is again, annoying. Overall, it’s good, but some things just aren’t too memorable.
