First off, I love RPGs. Not just Final Fantasy or stuff like that but anything remotely resembling one. When I heard about Kingdom Hearts, I was skeptical, to be sure. I thought "There is no way they can put disney characters in a game and make it serious." Well, I was wrong. This game is great stuff, plain and simple. Aside from its gorgeous graphics, it boasts an innovative new combat system, very different from the done-to-death turn based system found in most other Squaresoft RPGs (or any others for that matter). The story is very in-depth and creative, and like most RPGs, you can go through it more than once and still find things you never caught the first time around, lending to an elevated shelf life. The soundtrack to the game is somewhat kiddy, but there are still some gems in there, like the opening and closing songs (Simple and Clean). All this being said, there are some minor problems with it, the biggest one being the camera angles. Often you found yourself running toward the screen, working to move the camera around so you can see what's ahead of you and you get attacked by something. Luckily, this is a fairly rare occassion, though the cameras do present other minor annoyances throughout the game. I still think that Squaresoft and Disney wrapped a nice package, and I look forward to playing Kingdom Hearts 2 when it releases.
