A highly underrated game, A great cross between Fable and Oblivion, With over 100 hours of game play well worth a look.

I was dubious when I ordered Reckoning after the disappointment of the long awaited Skyrim, This game appeared to slip under the radar and received mixed reviews.
Personally? I love it. The game has a main story, faction missions, side quests and tasks. So far I've spent over 80 hours on the game and have completed 126 quest and still not uncovered the whole map, It's great value as opposed to the common 8 hours games that are being churned out, All missions and locations are varied and don't become repetitive.
The developers have taken aspects of both Fable and Skyrim and by omitting the annoyances of both titles they've created a thoroughly enjoyable and absorbing game.
The game is pretty much bug free, It has a large map with an eclectic mix of missions. The fast travel is always useful when new locations are uncovered, but walking gives the opportunity to gain experience points en-route.
Experience points are achieved by pretty much everything you kill, discover, unlock, etc. When you level up you have have points to spend on three different skill trees from Might, Finesse or Sorcery depending on your style of play, Maxing out some of these skills create some awesome options for dispatching your foes. I still get a kick out of dropping a huge meteor onto the attacking hoards whilst they're in the throes of the electric shock that my lightning storm has administered, fire in a few flaming arrows for good measure and it's RIP for all and sundry. The fighting options are excellent and you can use a mix of bow, magic and hand held weapons. Far more varied than other games of the same genre.
You can change and upgrade your armor along the way (head, torso, legs, feet and shield).and choose from a huge selection of weapons each with varying speeds, strengths and up-gradable moves (Hammers, broad swords, faeblades, bows, chakrams, daggers and swords). The looting and selling option is there too which brings in that lovely cash.
You have a number of objects that you can carry instead of weight, and yes the money is actually useful...there's a novelty. Investing in new weapons can get expensive the 600,000 I spent on a flaming bow and Chakrams was worth every penny as yet another enemy goes up in flames.
Unlike in previous role playing games where as you progress you discover that you should have used your points upgrading chakrams instead of a hammer or sorcery instead of might, In Reckoning it's not a problem visit a fateweaver and reset all your points and redeploy them, This option alone opens up a whole new way of playing and not being stuck with you original choices.
Something new are the fate cards that you unlock depending on how you deploy your points these give bonus in the various trees.
The weapon trees are excellent and throw up many dilemmas as to where you want to spend your hard earned points. Leveling up is well spaced and tops out at level 40 giving a huge amount of points to spend and the ability to max out some skills and still having plenty of the game left to complete while you're at a high level so you actually get to use those hard earned skills (unlike Mass effect and such like).
You also have skill points to allocate each time you level up covering a range of other skills such as alchemy, sage crafting, lock-picking, dispelling, black-smithing, etc. All of which again can be redeployed after a visit to a fate weaver and all of which have various uses throughout the world.
Throw in hidden stashes, hidden doors, dispelling enchanted chests, the arena (fighting for cash), houses to own and upgrade, creating potions, smithing weapons and adding enchanted gems to them and your armor and you've got a great game.
There is a huge amount of options in this game and it will give endless hours of enjoyable gaming, I get through a lot of games and this is definitely in my top 10. If you enjoy it even half as much as me it will be a good buy, I hope you enjoy it.
