Kirby and the crystal shards is a game originally for the 64, and a classic it is. This is a great game, I think, because of the mixing and matching of abilities. You can sit and experiment all day, getting very interesting powers from various enemies. The levels are great, they are more 3D most of the time, rotating along a tower, or top down, etc. giving a sense of reality. The bosses are actually challenging (Gasp! Who would have thought?) and require patience and skill instead of wild beatings; this is probably the second best part of the game for the most part. They even fit in with the surroundings, such as a boss who is a tower sort of thing that you must climb while fighting it. The story line, although pretty cliche by today's standards, evil person disrupts peace, good guys go through levels to get to evil person, viciously beat evil person; is actually quite unique. Gathering friends along the levels and having their help to get power ups, etc. is great, and actually helps you! Overall, this game is a great classic and every kirby, heck, every platformer fan should add to their most likely massive collection.
