As much as I liked it, for some reason it just wasn't as fun as Dream Land and Adventure.

Kirby's Dream Land 2 takes the elements of Kirby's Adventure and adds a new spin to it: the animal friends. You have a choice between a hamster, an owl, or a fish. Kirby still has copy abilities, still has world maps, and still has to collect star pieces to fight the "Real" villian...so apparently Kirby's Adventure set the standard moving foward since all of these elements were introduced in it. There aren't as many copy abilities though but this is due to the fact that they all behave differently depending on which or even whether you're using any of your animal friends. This becomes important because many of the rainbow pieces you have to gather in order to fight the final boss, depends on having the right animal friend with the right copy ability to access them. The majority of the game you'll find yourself attached to some animal friend and the rare times your aren't, it'll feel kind of weird just seeing Kirby standing there by himself.

My Breakdown:

What's Good:

- Kirby returns to his roots on the Game Boy

- Successfully integrates many of the popular elements established in Kirby's Adventure

- Getting a variety of options with limited copy abilities due to the introduction of the animal friends

What's Not-So-Good:

- Not having as many copy abilities as Kirby's Adventure
- No new copy abilities introduced
- Besides the animal friends, the game doesn't do anything new. It plays out almost exactly the same as Kirby's Adventure

What's Bad:

- The replay value wasn't as high for me as its predecessors.

In all, while introducing something new, Kirby's Dream Land 2 still ends up being "just another Kirby game" and is the least memorable to me. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good game but its just not one of the best.
