Fast action platforming mixed with undeniable charm makes for a classic game in Kirby's Dream Land.
I finished the game for the first time, and it was an amazing playthrough (it only took an hour, but there's a bonus game that can be played with a button combination at the title screen).
The gameplay is surprisingly fast paced in Kirby's Dream Land. Unlike the newer Kirby games, you don't get powers from inhaling your enemies, so all you really do is breathe them in and spit them out. You run through levels, face a mini-boss, go through a little bit more terrain, and then fight that area's final boss. There are four bosses in all, followed by a rematch with each of them on DeDeDe's Island, and then a match with King DeDeDe himself (all of which are very fun, and played differently).
The platforming is simple; run, jump, and kill enemies in your way.
Another appealing feature is just how embarassingly cute the game is. I enjoy splitting heads open and sticking grenades on the enemy in most of my games, but I couldn't help but crack a smile now and again at the charming characters and landscapes.
In all, it's a very fun game if you're looking for a quick fix.
