A painful remembrance of the failures of the retro generation of gaming.
User Rating: 2 | Hoshi no Kirby GB
This is easily the worst Kirby game ever made, and it's mostly due to one simple omission: Kirby's ability to copy foes, abilities. Without Kirby's copy ability, this is a mere skeleton of a game. It's like Mario without mushrooms and coins, The Legend Of Zelda without dungeons, Metroid without power-ups. It's simply awful. I would find it unconscionable to give this game a rating higher than 2. If you are looking for a nostalgia element to this game, find it elsewhere. The Dream Land games in their own right are of the worst strain of the Kirby franchise. It's as if it took Nintendo three or so games to work out the kinks before finally creating the winning formula. Kirby Super Star is a testament to the level of ingenuity and entertainment this franchise is capable of delivering, but Kirby's Dream Land is nothing more than a remembrance of times long past, perhaps for the better.
