Returning to Dream Land was NOT a mistake!
The basic storyline is kept to a minimum in this game, which helps it's accessibility to a younger audience. Kirby and friends are walking around one day, and suddenly a mysterious space ship crash lands and five of the main ship parts go missing, so it's up to Kirby and his friends to go find the parts and then explore a different world from their own who the owner of the ship calls "home".
Kirby's Adventure... That's all I have too say. The gameplay is a modern version of Kirby's Adventure, and that's a GOOD thing! It's classic platforming at it's best, start from point A to make it to point B, but there are plenty of obstacles in your way throughout the adventure. Each world or "level" has a nice food touch too it within the name just as Kirby's Adventure, example: In Kirby's Adventure there is Vegetable Valley, Ice Cream Island, and Butter Building. In Kirby's Return to Dream Land there are ones like Raisin Ruins, Nutty Noon, Dangerous Dinner, etc. Also, look at what the name of each world spells, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Although the game is easy, some of the later bosses are actually quite... I don't like having to say this, irritating. They will be extremely cheap and cause you to lose having to restart the fight almost several times, other than that, it's pretty easy.
There are some very charmful tracks in this game, like just the menu music is a good enough example to say so. Kirby games are known (or should be known) for their great music, and this game is no exception!
Pretty much the main story will take you anywhere from 5-10 hours, but the big part of the game are the energy spheres. There are three or more in every single level in the game, and some can be really tricky and tough to get, so completionists are looking at several hours more.
I think this game is one I could replay every once in awhile, more so in the future for nostalgia I'd think anyways.
Overall, returning to Dream Land was a great idea! Nintendo took what made Kirby's Adventure great and made it even better! Nintendo put a lot of love and care into this, and it was executed almost perfectly! You almost HAVE to have this one in your library! No questions asked.
