Good but had the potential to be great

This game is a mixed bag for me, On one hand i love the gothic theme and storyline and environments, The graphics are also great and create a spooky suspenseful atmosphere, the character designs and personalities are also interesting for example koudelkas no nonsense attitude, But on the other hand, The game becomes repetitive and a grind and in the end you just feel like you want to just get it out the way and finish it to never look back. The games exploration elements are great, but i feel the battle system is overly simple, There could of been many more special attributes and magic spells but unfortunately most of them are not really needed as enemies can be defeated within a few melee attacks, the selection of weapons is great and adds more depth to the fighting, but after your 100th random battle you just want something new. Also i didn't like the bland battle screen, I think if they just spent a little time rendering a background for the battle screen it would make the overall presentation of the game a lot better, the movement during battle is also a bit stiff for my liking but nothing really of a big issue. The game controls are great and i have no issues with the game mechanics which are in most parts smooth and responsive. Overall i did really enjoy playing the game, it was a good experience and an interesting if not kinda disturbing story, Sadly i had no real reason to go back once i had played through the game and i did not see any extra game modes or features worthy of another playthrough except for defeating a pretty hard enemy which will be revealed during the game. So overall, definitely worth a play for a great in depth story with a very original theme but suffers from small gameplay issues which could of been easily improved with a bit more loving effort , 7
