Atmospheric and Scary, but Lacking Gameplay

User Rating: 6.9 | Kuon PS2
When I first started playing this game, I thought I really had a winner on my hands. I was playing at night, and a few hours in, there were a few times where I jumped out of my seat and was scared. The problem was, the game kind of slows down near the middle and end, focusing more on the story rather that providing a good combat system and some more quality scares.

+ Some genuinely really scary moments
+ Story is interesting and original
+ The puzzles can be solved without ever looking at a walkthrough

- Voice acting is HORRIBLE at parts. They sound as if they are reading what to say and have no idea what is going on. The voices don't match the characters personalities. The characters mouths don't move. Spelling errors, They're there, hear here, etc...

- Not enough variety in enemies and environments

- Combat system is very basic

I would recommend this game to anyone that loves survival horror games, as long as they don't mind the "B-Movie" feel of the game due to the translation process and the weak combat system.
