CSI: Los Angeles 1947

User Rating: 9.5 | L.A. Noire PS3
L.A. Noire is a definite refreshing experience in today's gaming market. The attention to detail in recreating a classic 1940s Los Angeles is well thought out and planned here in Rockstar's new endeavor. Everything from signs and even the stop lights with the stop/go tabs is very cool to see. LA Noire is the best game in an albeit not too crowded genre of police detective games. However despite being so good in a small genre it is still a very awesome experience to play as a game of its own. Fans of Rockstar adventure games such as GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption will thoroughly enjoy this Rockstar classic. Gameplay is very similar to RDR and GTA IV, gun play is still pretty solid with the cover ability still remaining. Shooting a bank robber and watching realistic blood splatter on the walls never gets boring. The real joy in this game comes at solving murders and conducting interrogations. I love watching the realistic facial animations react to something I say or insinuate something the suspect did or did not do. Their reactions are very realistic and watching a guilty suspect crack under pressure never gets tiring. Car physics and handling can be a bit floaty, but you get used to it. They handle similar to GTA IV cars but these are big heavy flat head V8 Buicks rather than plastic/aluminum sports cars with low pro tires and rims on them. The cars are all real makes and models from the time period and it is a joy collecting them all. LA Noire's story is very in depth and engrossing. It requires a lot of paying attention to detail and thinking on your part. LA Noire does help you along in the investigations but you can turn this option off and really use your intuition in solving a case. In short LA Noire is a definite pick up for die hard single player fans who love an engrossing story.
