Have u always wanted to try CSI Los Angeles? Well, here's your chance!
L.A. Noire takes place in 1947, post-WWII. You are playing the roll of Cole Phelps, a former Marine during the war who joined LAPD to continue serving his country. And the game takes place in, where else, L.A. A glamorous city that hides alot of crooked, corrupted people, and its your job to solve the crimes that are commited in this city. But there's alot to the "crime solving" that isn't entirely apparent at first. While there are the "go to the scene of the crime, find clues, go here, find more clues, go somewhere else, find more clues, etc." parts, this game is designed alot like the CSI TV show is. At some point, you might b forced to chase after a suspect who decides to run from the law, or even the occasional gunfight. The gunfights take a bacseat to the detective, which isn't as bad as it sounds. The game takes place in a linear manner, so you can't just freely roam L.A. However, the game nails the time period in which it represents: the cars, the clothes, even the music just sell the illusion that you really are in the 1940's. The voice acting is outstanding as well and the characters are well developed and well represented. But one of the more interesting features of the this game is the interrogation sequences. Its not as easy as just speaking and having the suspect just spill the confession for you: you have to read the suspect's expression and tone of voice to figure out if their telling you the truth or completely bulls******g you. You can call them out if they're lying, but u must have evidence to back up your accusation, or your gonna make urself look really stupid. If your having trouble, intuition points help out alot. Its tough, and it will take some practice, but by the end of the game, you'll b a pro at it.
All in all, L.A. Noire does get a little boring at times, and it isn't as good as Red Dead Redemption, but its still a very solid game with very good production values. You'll spend 20 hours cracking cases, and it will b well worth it in the end. Have u always wanted to try CSI Los Angeles? Well, here's your chance!
