A great game if you are a fan of the Romero films
User Rating: 8.6 | Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green XBOX
I must say, for a game that was made just as a supplement for the DVD release of the superb Land of the Dead movie. After having played the demo for Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green, I instantly knew I wasn't going to be getting a stellar gaming experience, just a fun little first person shooter filled with nothing but zombie killing. I knew this, I expected this, and set my expectations accordingly. Let's face it, if you're expecting a great gaming experience you'll most likely be dissapointed. The graphics are a topic of much debate, a lot of people hate them and think their crap. Personally I liked them, thought they did a good job of showing a desolate society, after the zombies have taken over. The zombies by the way look superb. The audio in the game leaves a lot to be desired, there are only about two voice actors throughout this game, the occasional radio report, and that of the main character Jack. But hey, who cares about narrative, you're playing this game for the zombie killing. Road to Fiddler's Green certainly does have a lot of that. This is quite possibly the only game that caused me to think about how I needed to conserve my ammo, many a time, you'll be killing the zombies that are swarming you, and you'll have to pause to reload, and if you need to reload a weapon like the shotgun or the .22, you'll end up switching to a melee weapon just to take care of the nearby zombies, just to save your butt. The game is also painfully short, just as your really getting into it, the game is over. Despite the fact the game can be beaten in about three days (I beat it in two and a half), you'll find yourself playing old levels, just cause killing zombies is so much fun. Which is why I give Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green a 8.6 out of ten.
