The tomb raider games on the psone were really good games, and they still are. The original tomb raider game was a brilliant hit when it came out in 1996. Now the new tomb raider game the angel of darkness has now arrived on PS2. First I will start with the good news, well the game has a good storyline which involves Lara being accused of killing Varner Von Croy , who was in tomb raider the last revelation (TR 4). The story then has you having to find the evil Eckhart who is planning on raising an ancient race known as the nepolin. The graphics have been improved and in some parts although they do look a bit on the cartoon side. The sound is actually quite well done too although the voice acting really does suck and the character modelling is also quite poor. But sadly tomb raider the angel of darkness just simply wasn't worth waiting 3 years for. The reasons are that the control system is really poor and annoying although if you give it some time and you may be able to get used to the control system but simple things like lining up jumps is made difficult with this crappy control system. There isn't much action in this game and the puzzles here are just like the ones in the first tomb raider game. I mean this game really isn't that different to the other tomb raider games. Clearly tomb raider 3 was the best tomb raider game core has made. The enemy AI is just a complete joke this means that enemies would just stand there firing at you without moving and when you kill them they just flicker and disappear, this is a PS2 for crying out loud The stealth move doesn't work well either as you don't really need to use it at all. Angel of darkness will only appeal to those who do enjoy tomb raider games and I would only buy it if I saw it for cheap. But after 3 years everyone deserves better
