This game lives up to the L4d name, with a million infected, the ai director, guns and friends, what could go wrong?

The game itself is based upon teamwork, If you move away from the group one of the pesky spec infected will get you and kill you which on advanced or Expert mean a VERY short game. It follows (like l4d1) 4 survivors (Coach, Ellis, Nick and Rochelle) as they try and battle their way to New Orleans and to be in the safe hands of the US military there. The survivors are awesome and when a friend plays as each the game becomes an absolute blast which I personally believe to be one of the best multiplayers ever. With multiple online game modes with VS, campaign and survival all having been continued from l4d1 it does give good game modes for everyone. Also with the addition of Scavenge mode the game modes now vary heavily with 2 modes now being competitive and the others being co-op. Another game mode that has been introduced is the Realism mode, though it is criticised for being just an edited campaign it does give a new way of doing things, survivors can now only be resurrected by defibrillators or by getting to the end of that level making teamwork VERY important. These game modes offer loads of fun and when combined with 3 new spec infected as well as the uncommon common infected (the hazmat zombies, riot infected, construction workers, Mudmen and Clowns) making the game a lot more varied than in l4d1 with just commons and the couple of spec infected. Also the Gore has been massively improved, limbs will be chopped off by melee weapons (which is another great add on) and the gore of a shotgun shell to the abdomen is something that is plainly brilliant to see, also speaking of weapons there are multiple new weapons, whereas in l4d1 you had 1 assault rifle (the M16) you now have that plus the Ak-47 and Scar-L providing different styles of play and stops generalisation for certain weapons as the Ak is powerful but inaccurate and slow fire, the M16 is fast firing, fast reload but fairly inaccurate and low damage the Scar offers a very accurate tri-burst weapon with a larger clip than the others with the expense of slow fire and long reload
Unfortunately the campaign itself is pretty short, on normal difficulty you could probably complete it in less than 4 hours, though the AI director offers variation it does mean that the campaigns are restrictive, however in their defence they do offer a variation between urban, rural, swamps and even a carnival! Unfortunately another criticism here is that I just dont connect with the new survivors as the old ones, I found them to be much more likely, believable and cooler (apart from Ellis and Nick).
Inconclusion the game itself is completely awesome and a brilliant game, also on PC the game involves a lot more communication as the keyboard can be used for communicating if there is no headset, the game is fun, has teamwork, looks great, is gory, multiple game modes all make this game one of the best i have played and btw its 250 hours now not 100!
