If your not an Australian, great news for you! Unfortunately, for Australians this game might be a huge let down.
So if you can pick it up at ebay or amazon.com and enjoy the "american" version (or any other country) then you will enjoy the satisfaction of blowing heads off and dismembering limbs.
First of all I thought to myself when I started playing the demo, hey this isn't all too bad. The infected disappear, which isn't bad and I then wondered to myself, "where did they go?" I didn't mind this at all so, I picked up the game and decided to play it without considering the censoring. (I thought this would be a good idea, so I can actually examine the game at a non-censored view) I enjoyed it for about 5 months after the game came out. Despite the graphics this game is top notch.
So then I went crazy. And I knew I couldn't keep this up because the Left 4 Dead series is a great series. The graphics are terrible, here are the main reasons:
- Dead infected disappear
- Minor bullet wounds on infected (when shot at)
- Different colour of blood (I'm taking like a shade of green here)
- Infected don't set on fire (This is kinda funny actually, it looks like they are having a hissy fit/ crying.)
And then I thought, Thank-god they are making a petition for R18+ in Australia. Can't wait for Left 4 Dead 3. I'll now set up short paragraphs on different aspects of the game.
Gameplay (9.5): The game mechanics are superbly laid out. Who doesn't like killing infected, chopping them in half with your axe or setting them on fire? I love zombie games and left 4 dead 2 and 1 happen to be my favourites.
Sound (9): Each campaign and special infected have their own soundtrack and I kinda like this. You will even here the occasional horde music which creeps me out.
Graphics for Australians (6.5): It's terrible, that is that. I have to admit though that level designs are great. But when you kill a zombie and recognise the appalling blood/bullet detail. (Information above to read why)
Re-playability (8.5) I don't know whether its because Left 4 Dead had that scare theme that I liked better or that Modern Warfare 2 just seemed to release first and there was this major hype over it but I don't seem to be coming back to L4D2 much anymore.
When I do, there isn't any games and there are hardly any Australian players. But I do have some friends which I do join oftenly and we have great fun kicking some quantum singularity. (But I do think it is because of Modern Warfare 2, so that's why I gave it an 8.5)
Overall score: 8.5
