Not all that it's cracked up to be...

For the last couple of months my friends and I were waiting for this DLC to be released. Then it got pushed back, and we had to wait some more. Now that I have "The Passing", I want to give it back to Valve and tell them to finish it.

What I mean by this is that "The Passing" feels like it's not finished. The campaign is really, really short. When I got up to the finale, I thought it was a mini finale. See, that would've been great. A nice change from the past campaigns. But no, that was the end of the campaign. I was really surprised and angry that Valve would make something like this. If I could I would send it back for a refund or an exchange for a finished product.

The "Fallen Survivor" is nothing really special, it just looks like a dude dressed in fatigues that punches you. He doesn't even run away and rarely gives you anything good. Valve should have done more with this new "uncommon common" and at least give him a weapon or something so it would be more of a challenge. The golf club is a golf club and acts like the baseball bat. At first I kept saying "I'm gonna Tiger Woods these mofo's!" every time I decapitated a zombie... it was fun at the moment but its nothing special. The M60 on the other hand is a really fun weapon but you only get one clip. The foot lockers are cool, but half the time they don't really serve much purpose. It just allows everyone to grab one item and thats it. It's good for crescendo events but they're never there when you need them, just in random places where nothing is around.

Afterwards I tested to see if the DLC would carry over to the other campaigns such as use of the golf club, the M60 and the foot lockers but no such luck. You have to play "The Passing" to use them. Which is BS! This is an update to the game you should be able to use these items throughout the WHOLE GAME!!

Basically what you're getting your moneys worth is the new Mutations tab. Everyone should know what this is if not... Every week Valve will tweek the versus mode with random modes. This week is Realism versus, another week will be Chainsaw Massacre and so on... One thing about these modes is if you play through 6 games, you get an avatar award... woo...

All an all I give it a 5 because I feel it's not complete. I don't know what held up the original launch date but for what ever the reason is, they didn't fix it. Like some reviewers here, I'll wait for reviews before getting another future DLC for any game. It seems like a lot of developers are just pushing sh!t out just to make money. Oh well, I hope that trend Passes by... get it...
