A zombie apocalypse never looked this good.
The game has you choosing one of four survivors in which you'll need to rely on the cooperation of your teammates to get to each safe house, eventually leading up to a last stand waiting for a rescue vehicle. The game only includes four campaigns and the levels are fairly linear, but fortunately it's just so much fun killing off infected that you'll be going back to these stages over and over again. There's a good variety of weapons to choose from and the tight controls make them very intuitive to use. The levels always feel fresh and new because the AI director constantly changes where the zombies might be or come from. There are a variety of zombies to choose from here. They include common infected, which sprint toward you and usually come in groups, and special infected that require you to really be on your toes, because one mistake can have you covered in vomit, wrapped by a deadly tongue, facing a lumbering behemoth.
Where the game really shines is in its co-op and competitive multiplayer. Playing by yourself just isn't much fun without the inclusion of other human characters beside you or online. The game provides a good deal of content. Survival mode has you and your teammates dealing with an infinite number of zombies and you simply need to try and stay alive. But it certainly isn't easy and it provides a good deal of challenge. The competitive multiplayer has you play as either one of the survivors or as one of the special infected, which really make things interesting.
The game is also very impressive to look at, providing eerie, detailed, and bloody visuals and tense music like you would expect in a horror movie. The voice acting and scripting is also fantastic. The characters are very likable and usually provide a good chuckle for you even in the most intense moments. The sound effects from the infected and firepower are also fantastic.

Zombies, zombies everywhere... and not enough to kill. Games like this show us that the survival/ horror genre will continue for generations until the zombies start their ravenous rampage on the the human race, and that's fine by us, because we'll be ready by then.
Overall, it is a definite must have. A game like this ensures that there will be many great sequels yet to come.
