Games don't get much funner than Left 4 Dead.
While the campaign it's self is over in a flash...The fun you can have during is sure to last for countless hours after you finish. The story is split up into 4 chapters, each divided by sub chapters that you make your way through, before making a final stand while waiting for rescue. Probably the most attractive aspect of the campaign is... No matter how many times you play it, things can always be different. Whether it is a group of enemies showing up at a different time than previous playthroughs, or a set of items no longer being in the same spot. The AI Director that Valve incorporated keeps the game fresh, and fun to replay countless times.
You can choose to play online, with 3 other human players... or offline with 3 computer allies. No matter which way you choose to play, you are sure to fall in love with the characters. Between their snippy little comments at each other, to their subtle hints when finding useful items... these characters certainly do everything possible to add to the fun that is Left 4 Dead.
While the Story is kinda bland, and extremely short...it does a good job of bringing the players back for another play through, over and over again.
---Multiplayer/Co-Op-------------------------------- 9/10
Left 4 Dead is a Co-Op game. It's campaign is meant to be played Co-Op, it's multiplayer modes are Co-Op...and all of them are loads of fun. The Multiplayer mode consists of 2 groups of human players. One group plays as the survivors, while the other group plays as a few of the infected. The object of the mode is simple... Survivors need to survive... infected need to kill the survivors. The Survival game mode is probably the most fun. It consists of 4 survivors teaming up to last as long as possible. Before the start of each match, the survivors have time to set up their game however they want. Be it placing a gas can near the camping spot for easy access, or making sure everyone has a pipebomb, and knows the correct spot to set up camp. As the round starts, the time begins... all you have to do is survive as long as possible. It's a simple concept that provides loads of fun for the players.
---Graphics------------------------------------------- 8.5/10
The Source engine is one of the better constant engines of the past few years. It combines a different style of graphics than the majority of mainstream FPS titles, with some of the best animations to date. it seems like no matter what you do in L4D, the animations are absolutely amazing. Certainly one of the greatest assets of this game.
---Sound---------------------------------------------- 7/10
Sound is one of the few drawbacks in Left 4 Dead. the weapons don't quite sound right, the Zombies all make pretty much the same noises, aside from the boss zombies. You can hardly hear things such as breaking glass, or smaller explosions. The character voices are probably the best thing about L4D's sound. While the voices themselves could be better fitting, all of their comments sound nice, and are used in the appropriate spots.
---Controls: 9/10
Simple and easy to learn. Should come first nature to anyone that has played an FPS in the past.
---Replayability------------------------------------ 9.5/10
By Far L4D's greatest feature is the amount of replaybility.
---Final Verdict------------------------------------- 8.5/10
Left 4 Dead is tons of fun, that anyone who owns a Xbox 360 or PC should not pass up.
