For old-school fans of Soul Reaver who want closure to the story of Kain and Raziel.

This is a relatively good action game deserving of a higher score than what it's been given by most reviews but it is not outstanding by any means. I would recommend it to fans of the original PS Soul Reaver who want closure to the saga of Kain and Raziel. The fighting mechanics are done well and combat is enjoyable thanks in large part to the TK abilities of our two anti-heroes but there is little diversity among the enemies and levels are repetitious. It is always satisfying to grab and throw an enemy over a cliff with mind powers or to suck the blood of a victim from 10 feet away! The environments and fixed camera angles are reminiscent of the Devil May Cry games which adds atmosphere and artistic expression but can be a bit frustrating at times. The camera view is controllable but only from a fixed point. If you're an old-school gamer like me who just wants to know how the story of Raziel ends and have a little fun along the way you may want to plug in the cheat codes and blast through the game while enjoying the scenery and story. A used copy of this game is very inexpensive and worth purchasing for fans of the series but I would not recommend it for anyone who does not know or is not interested in the story that began with Soul Reaver.
