some annoying issues aside, youll have some block busting fun with lego batman

User Rating: 7.5 | LEGO Batman: The Videogame PS3
The Good:fun cooperative play. has the humor you expect in a lego game. great environment effects. cool combat. lots to collect. You can play as the bad guys.

The Bad:Stupid ai partner. Really easy. repetitive combat. some puzzles arent pointed out good enough. vehicle controls are touchy.some attempts at jokes fall flat. major framerate issues and slight screen tearing.

Ive been a fan of the lego games since lego starwars. It always had playful humor and some fun right along side it. thats not to say lego batman fails at this, its still a charmer, but theres some annoying issues that get in the way of the fun.

Good guys or bad guys, expect to have an awesome family friendly experience. While in the hero stories you always play as batman and robin. the bad guys range from the riddler to joker. The bad guys have more interesting levels since you really more on the villians certain ability than batman and robins basic suits.

another family friendly part that made the lego games such a hit was its humor. Though since this isnt based on any movie. humor mostly spotlight robin and the villians. but despite a few moments falling flat, there are some really funny moments (light that bug guy reaching for a lamp) so it may not be as funny as lego games like lego indiana jones 1,2, it packs some jokes that hit the spot.

One of the things i should point out is the combat system. now you dont always have to mash on the X button. Your regular attacks are square, and you grab with O. This finaly adds variety to the combat.

Unfortunately your dimwitted partner is no help here. 2/5 your partner loses in a fight and dies usually 4 times before clearing the area. But when your teamed up with a friend. things get funner .

Though i wish the combat wasnt used so often. One thing is that the ai you fight are pretty dumb. another is that the combat gets really repetitive because they constantly throw enemies at you, which is irratating when your trying to solve one of the dully pointed out puzzles.

The puzzles are one of the problems. its like this: you enter the area, beat a bunch of bad guys, next thing you know your searching the area to find out what to do.plus at times while trying to figure out what to do, the game sends endless waves of enemies. Why!? Your ai partner are useless in these moments . When one player needs to be on a crate, you switch to the other guy and the dude on the crate jumps off. add that with sometimes (rarely) not pushing the other switch and the ai losing to enemies problem and youll find out your ai partner is just useless.

thankfully there are vehicle parts that break up those moments of annoyance. theres not quite as much confusing puzzles here. the problem is that the gameplay here isnt really that fun, vehicle controls are touchy, and your ai partner remains useless yet again, only this time not attacking at all.

The graphics in lego bat are a stand point. while the lego character models stay simple with some noticable low textures on them. its the environment that steals the show. Lightning effects are top notch, particle effects work and overall the only kids game that didnt rush its graphics.though alot of times (when the screen is filled with enemies which happens alot.)the frame rate drops from its 60 FPS and there is screen tearing.

But dont get me wrong, my review may sound abit harsh but overall i enjoyed lego batman, so if your willing to get past these issues, then lego batman is the game that should be on your shelf.
