An absolutely enjoyable game for the Harry Potter fan. Super family friendly gameplay with lots of extra replay value.
The gameplay and stories follow the movies more than the books. You get to follow Harry, Hermione and Ron through some great Hogwarts adventures.
What I enjoyed most about the game was a fun story mixed with some simple, yet fun puzzle-solving and collecting. Each level had goals, hidden treasures, bad guys to defeat, spells to cast, and lots of things to blast. Just plain fun.
The Lego characters and the humor style were very charming. Hagrid and the professors provided some kid-friendly jokes. It was also fun to turn Draco Malfoy into a toad. The graphics were excellent for the Wii, but not cinematic gems as you can imagine. There were lots of cutscenes which played up to the movie and kept the story flow moving.
The controls and spells that you cast were very intuitive. This made solving all of the puzzles and levels pretty easy. Each year was slightly different in the style of gameplay. Year 3 probably had the best story and puzzles.
Once you are done with a level or the whole game, you can go back to replay to unlock more goodies. Also there are several bonus levels which extend the playing time a lot. The replay value is really good. You can play as different characters or you can go for 100%. We had finished the game, bonus levels, and replayed a number of the levels and had only reached 55% complete. So there's a lot there to keep you busy.
