Lego Indy brings the lego world to life, doing an admirable job making the game lose the idea it's a hand held version.
THE BAD: Cutscenes make a blurry transition, environments are a little bland
THE UGLY: The AI on your partner, judging distance
The lego game series established itself on the Star Wars franchise, and has now moved on to the other Lucasfilm staple, the Indiana Jones series. Lego Star Wars II brought a console port feel to the game, but still had some kinks to iron out. Lego Indy takes cares of some of the issues, and while some remain, the game is consistently good fun.
Graphics: B+
The game operates in 3-D environments, allowing for a console feel to the game. this may be made easier by the fact that the
characters are Legos, and the environments do tend to be bland. Still, the way it all comes together, plus the objects IN the environment, works.
Story: A
The Legos borrow from pretty good material, and their tongue in cheek approach never hurts matters. The only shortcoming is the lack of speech, but nobody should notice that.
Gameplay: B
The puzzles are interesting, but the AI can hinder things. Sometimes, when a switch needs to be pushed by not one, but two, your comrade will, for no reason, get blocked by some object in his path. It's a frequent annoyance, but can be solved if you have a friend who also owns the game. The only other issue here is the visual can make it difficult to judge how you jump. You may fall into a chasm or two, but you have unlimited lives, so you can learn from the mistake.
Multiplayer: A
The multiplayer in the game even functions like the console version, so long as you have 2 copies of the game. You get paired together to solve the levels, working together. Having a real person to yell at is much more satisfying.
Lego Indy is a great game for fans of the franchise, or anyone looking for some portable, yet high quality, fun.
