I just don't like it at all! It's not fun compared to the console versions...
this game for one of those systems instead of this crappy version for the DS.
When I read reviews for this game, I was expecting the exact same thing, besides
a couple different things like characters and areas... but I was wrong. The
graphics sucked (do not be fooled by the images! Those are just the cutscenes!), the
engine was scrachy and cheep, glitches would happen every other half minute or two,
and only a third of the characters in the Wii version I own are there! And to make
things worse, there aren't Character or Minikit bonus stages! If you want what's best
for your allowence, read the rest of this review carefully, and if you don't believe
me... watch a YouTube video of this game for the DS! It might show you what I'm
talking about... And note the horrible animation if you do...
Graphics: 5/10
When I read reviews, they said that this game had ten out of ten graphics, that
would never lag, never look blocky, ect. I was even convienced when I checked out
the images for this game... but the truth is, those pictures where from the
cutscenes. Not the actual game. Infact, even the cutscenes dissapointed me! All they
were was just a bunch of MOVING PICTURES. And even then, they sometimes looked a
bit blocky. As soon as I saw the game start, I felt my stomache drop in dissapointment...
They were nothing like on the Wii! No shiny lego pieces, Chewbacca's crossbow was 2-D, and even
the lightsaver's after-image thingy was jagged and looked like cardboard! Even other DS games
are ALOT better than this piece of crap!
Gameplay: 3/10
This is what made me most upset... it bored me. They was no challenge mode at all, just free
play. Instead of 6 stages for each stage, there was only 5. There wasn't any vehicle's in
on-foot stages, and there isn't free play for the vehicle missions! Plus, those vehicle missions?
They make me feel like I'm playing an Atari video game! It's all just straight forward, no exra.
MOst things you built out of lego elements are just made out of 6 or 7 pieces that you
put together, while in my Wii version you get to have a million at least! When lego studs fall
on the ground, the most they usually is at one time is 10 or 15, and if anymore appear, some
of them disappear! Poof, into thin air! Insead of lego studs bouncing off walls and the ground,
they just go flying into the air and come straight back down, and stick glued to the ground...
The worst thing about lego studs? They go through the freakin walls! And you can't get them!
Plus? No power-ups in stages! Half the extras you get are just mini-games, I mean- what is that!?
You can't even jump-role with blasters characters. But the worst part is about to come...
Stages and animation: 2/10
Most of the time, you have to go left and right, if not ALL the time, unlike the Wii version
where you could go forward and back, and climb up on high platforms. In this game, the Cantina
is all a CIRCLE. The custom character pieces don't vary in waists and hands/arms. Instead, just
these are available: Head, hat, body, leg, weapon, and cape... In the Wii version, you could
customize the hands, arms, waist, even use extra parts that other characters don't, such as
the Afro hair, extra cape and arm colors, and you can't even use shiny magnums. There are
only several animations in the game: 5 for blasters, 3 or 4 for lightsabers... and 3 extra for
other characters light General Grievous. Now that I brung that up, General Grievous is as short
as R2-D2. R2-D2 can't use his computer tool to stun people. And another thing about the stages?
All the parts where you have to use R2-D2 to hover over gaps? You can instead just jump across
with a jedi, unlike in the console version, where glitches like these would have been fixed...
In the cantina, you can only see one person at a time besides yourself and your partner.
The thing about partners? You can only have two shown at one time. If you want to be someone
else in the party, you have to switch to them, like in FreePlay! When you find a person to
join the party? They suddenly disenagrate; are added to your Character List on the bottom screen!
Most exra area's aren't there, like the lego theater in the Mos Eisley space port stage...
...Oh, one last thing: you don't have the gold brick stages or the Indiana Jones trailer, or
even the opening intro; and there isn't any enemies at all in the Dagobah stage.
MultiPlayer: 6/10
The good thing: you don't have to fight over one screen like in the console version. The bad:
it's limited; you can't play multi player arcade, and like I said earlier, Character and Minikit
bonus stages don't exist, even for one player. Another bad thing is that if you want help from
a friend, you have to stop what you're doing, go to the Cantina, select to connect, and THEN
play two player AKA Co-Op. In the console version, you could simply press a button on the
second player controller at anytime you feel like playing with a friend.
Overall: 2/10
It might keep you a bit occupied for a minute or two until it gets dull. Just make sure of one
thing: buy this game for your home console (Wii, Ps3, Xbox360) instead. You'll fall in love
with any of those versions of the game, but you definitely won't with this one...
