Good game for the Gamecube-owning Star Wars junkie

This game at first looks like a cutesy version of other Star Wars games and in a way it plays like one. This game consists of 3 chapters (4 including the "Bonus" level) each following the story of one of the newer three episodes (I, II, III). Each chapter has several subchapters where you go through a level usually as a Jedi hacking and slashing through mounds of battle droids, geonosians, and other enemies. The levels occasionally have you switch to a seperate character other than the Jedi in oder to activate certain switches. You will sometimes have to change to C-3PO or R2-D2 to open a door on a ship or change to Jar Jar Binks who can't do anything except jump higher than everyone. When you go through the nearly completely destructible environment you can collect 'studs' which act as money in between levels to purchase new characters like General Grievous, Hints about the game, and extras like Silly Blasters.

Once you beat all three chapters, you unlock Free Play mode in which you can go through the levels once again but his time choosing any of the characters that you have unlocked whether you unlocked them via purchase or just the freebies from beating levels. This comes in handy for collecting Minikit and Superkit pieces. Minikit pieces are spread 10 per level hidden behind doors, floating in the air, or right in front of you. Superkit pieces are unlocked by collecting a certain amount of studs per level and once you collect all 17 (One per level) you unlock the Secret Bonus Chapter. It is often quite hard to collect all of the minikit pieces and the superkit pieces without going back through the levels as another character that you didn't have in your party while playing the level previously in Story mode. This increases the replay value for this game greatly when combined with the fact that the game is about 4 hours long for the average gamer. You won't stop after those few hours of story play mainly because you will want to save up enough studs (200,000) for general grievous who can jump even higher than Jar Jar Binks.

All in all this is a decent gamecube game that, to me, became freakishly addicting trying to unlock all the characters. I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes Legos, Star Wars, or decent gamecube games.
