Positives:
- Absolutely adorable.
- It knows what it's trying to be, and it does it well.
- Controlling the cat feels great.
- The open world itself is well-designed and accurately captures the feel of a small cat in a large world.
- Graphical design is plenty colorful.
- Story is straightforward but there are plenty of charming characters.
- This game is genuinely hilarious.
- The fact that it can be beaten quickly is actually a good thing; it helps the game not overstay its welcome.
- Cat.
Negatives:
- Trying to collect everything might end up making the game a bit dull.
- I will admit, it was a touch buggier than I was expecting it to be.
Consensus: I've admitted many times over that I'm more of a dog person than a cat person, but I will admit that it's hard for me to resist when a game gets announced that features a cat. I mean, look at that punim...the one above this review, yeah, that one...yeah, cats are adorable. And in the case of "Little Kitty, Big City," I really enjoyed my time with this. I feel like it knew what it was trying to be, and it did it very well. It was almost like if "Untitled Goose Game" had a cat instead of a goose...so "Untitled Cat Game." It didn't overstay its welcome, it was very charming, and I had a lot of fun with it. It being on Game Pass definitely helped, but I think the game is cheap enough to be worth a purchase regardless. Hell, I think it's a better cat game than "Stray" was, and everyone loved that game...so yeah, add that to the "hot take" list, I suppose. But yeah, if you're in the market for something quick and relaxing, "Little Kitty, Big City" might be just what you need! Now, if only we could get a game where you play as a puppy...
Final rating: 8 out of 10 "Great"
