Littlebigplanet for PSP tries hard to be everything the PS3 version is, but falls very short. Two words: No Multiplayer.
Honestly, I was super psyched when I heard rumors of a PSP version of LittleBigPlanet was on the horizon. That excitement soon turned to dismay moments after I bought the game. Much to my disappointment, the rumors were true: There is no multiplayer. Period. No ad-hoc romps with your buddies, no online fun-time with some guy from Korea. Nope, nothing.
Multiplayer is the core and soul of the original game. Without it, littlebigplanet wouldn't be the big hit it is today. There would be no Game of the Year. There wouldn't be 400 different costumes on PSN. Nothing. Why did they take it away? Technical limitations? I think not.
Now, this can slightly be overlooked by the fact the game looks fantastic. It's nothing compared to the HD eye candy that is the original, but for what the PSP can do this is pure gold. Sounds are awesome too, albeit from small speakers.
The gameplay almost mimics that of the original. You press X for jump, R to grab things, Square for pop-it, etc. But... multiplayer! Why?!
To round it up, don't get this expecting to have the same experience as the PS3 version. It may LOOK the same, but it's far from the real thing. To be honest, don't get it at all unless you can get a killer deal on it. It's just not the same going at it all by yourself.
