Although short Loco Roco's charm and originality make it a must for any PSP owner.

The PSP was a disappointment for many. While it looked promising it's library consists mainly of ports of console games with few original games. Luckily Loco Roco isn't one of them. It is the kind of quirky and innovative game you see on the DS. The first thing you would notice about the game is it's completely unique style. It's full of bright colors, cute creatures and downright bizarre scenery. It's weird look makes it one of the most striking PSP games. It's no technical slouch either running on a modified version of a flash engine. It moves as smooth as butter even when theres a lot of action happening on screen and the engine gives it a very fluid look to its animation. The strange soundtrack is a bunch of pseudo-japanese gibberish sung in high pitched chipmunk voices. The weirdest thing about the music is some of it sounds almost pretty in it's own bizarre way. The soothing melody of the blue Loco Roco and the adorable child like voice of the yellow Loco Roco will charm even the hardest of hearts(required they can tolerate it in the first place). The gameplay to Loco Roco is like the rest of the game simple but charming. You lead the Loco Roco to the end of the level ideally collecting the most goodies as possible. It could have easily been a standard platformer but instead of controlling the Loco Roco directly you use the shoulder buttons to tilt the level and thus moving the Loco Roco. The only real down side to Loco Roco is it ends to soon. The game consists of only five worlds and it's only challenging if you collect everything in each stage. Despite this Loco Roco remains one of the best games on the PSP. There certainly isn't anything else like it.
