An essential puzzle game for everyone who owns a PSP.
Graphics: There isn't a real need of good graphics since the whole adventure is a 2D side scrolling cartoon, but there are some issues with the graphics that don't exactly hinder gameplay, but they make you look back at them. First, when you begin to build up a large Loco, the little blob will begin to spaz out, as all things will when ragdoll effects are placed on them, which is essentially what this is. Also, I have found that I have some dead pixels that only appear when I play LocoRoco, so I don't know if that's just an issue with the game or what. Other than that, however, the graphics are just enough to support the game itself.
Sound: If you don't think that this game shines in it's innovative gameplay, then you will say that it shines in its music. There are six Locos to choose from, once you unlock them of course, and each Loco has its own unique song, and trust me, these songs are most definitely unique. Also, special stages like the winter stage and the boss stage on each world have special songs, like the Christmas theme and Halloween theme, respectively. All of these songs are incredibly difficult to get out of your head, and definitely adds to the experience.
Value: While LocoRoco can be played through in a matter of days of dedicated play, it is nearly impossible to get all of the things in the game in one pass through. Going back, possibly with a guide, is the only way to get everything in the level. Although they don't really give you anything for your efforts except some add ons to a mode called the Loco House, which just seems tacked on and isn't much fun. Among the other modes are a few mini games which also seem tacked on at the last minute. I think we already have enough game time on our hands with the collecting stuff going on that we don't really need any stupid add ons.
Portability: Yes, i'm changing my category once again. The tilt section is now going to be portabliity for the PSP and DS and will remain story for other consoles. This is a GREAT game to just pick up and play, as the levels can be fairly short, and there isn't much of a learning curve once you start anyways. The only bad thing is that once you start playing, it's really hard to stop, which may lead to missing a bus stop, or playing well into the night.
Difficulty: This is not a hard game to fly through, but if you want to collect everything, then this is an extremely hard game, because everything is hidden oh so well. Many sessions will have you finish with 19 out of the possible 20 Locos and leave you wondering where that last berry was.
