Roll from one side to the other with your colorful friends in various colorful worlds.
...and yes, it does have a story. A simple, but interesting one.
In this game you control creatures called Locorocos, which are small coloured balls. The world was taken by fuzzy black monsters called Mojyas and your colorful friends were are scattered through the world. Your mission is to find them all and return the happiness to the world (yaai).
To make this happen, the balls must roll to one side or the other, eating fruits and flowers and grow bigger. The bigger you Locoroco gets, more points are earned at the end of the stage.
The controls are pretty simple. You can turn the world to the left side pressing the L button, or to the right side (...yes, pressing the R button). To jump to higher places and avoid obstacles on the floor, simply press both L and R buttons. There are plenty of obstacles: mountains, creatures with stings (which you cannot touch, otherwise you'll waste your life), fake fruits, currents and all sorts of stuff. You'll make good use of the scenarios' elements.
Sometimes, you'll find that your Locoroco is just too big to go through some holes and passageways. In that case, whenever you press the Circle button, your big Locoroco will be divided into various small ones. By holding the Circle button when they are in this state, they all return to one big Locoroco. Make sure you don't lose any of them nor leave them behind, otherwise it will be gone for good!
There are also a couple of enemies spread through the stages, but since you have no weapons, you can confront them only by making a wise use of your jumps!
The songs are cute and addictive and each Locoroco has its own.
The scenarios are very colorful and the physics of it are... well, let's say "realistic". There are different kinds of floors: sticky ones, solid ones, slippery ones... Each of them vary from stage to stage. There are various hidden passageways spread through the game, which allow you to find more fruits and extra items for the minigames.
The game is pretty short, but you'll want to spend sometime in the minigames and in the Locoroco House, which is a beehive-like place in which the Locorocos play and which you can decorate as you please.
Finding all the extra items, beating your own time record and playing the minigames... no matter how, Locoroco is one of those games that might keep you amused for quite a while!
