Lost Horizon at its best feels like an Indy adventure but the middle chapters are boring and filled with stupid puzzles.
After the rather nice beginning you are stuck in stupid world for several chapters. Fetching stone for this guy and a potato for that guy and a rat tail for that girl who will give you the potato etc. And nothing simple can be accomplished with obvious simple tasks when you can just run around the world collecting ketchup smears and road signs. I know some of these silly puzzles were in Secret Files games too but in this one they are actually the majority and it really flattened the overall experience. Also those middle chapters hardly advance the main plot at all, which makes them even more tedious.
The final chapters redeem the game though. You will once again be in a good adventure, solving puzzles with multiple characters and getting back into the actual storyline.
Couple of first chapters: 7.5
Middle chapters: 4.5
Couple of last chapters: 8.5
The graphics and voice acting are good, characters are likable and the interface is smooth. The promising mystery is a bit underused as are the multiple characters (except for the last chapters).
This is probably a great game for those who don't mind illogical puzzles and liked Secret Files but rather an average one for others.
