Card -based combat systems make most smart gamers run away in terror, and rightly so (Yu-Gi-Oh!, anyone). But this game does things differently. Instead of turned based crap, you control your character's actions. Cards are either melee, spell, or summon. A melee works just like a sword strike, a spell is like a fireball or ice blast, and a summon brings forth a creature. The way you figt monsters is similar to the Final Fantasy games; you walk into a certain area and trigger a fight. You can also capture monsters by throwing cards at them. Considering that this is the first RPG for the Gamecube, it could've been better. The graphics are just insulting to the cube's abilities, and the sound isn't all that great either. But, if you're looking for a challenging game, this is the right game to play.
