My first gamecube game

User Rating: 7.9 | Luigi Mansion GC
Luigi's mansion is the first game I ever played on the gamecube. Though it quickly got overshadowed when I bought Rogue Leader, it was still a nice experience Gameplay - 8 Sucking up things with a vaccuum certainly is quite new. It's actually quite fun too, though getting used to the controls was pretty tricky. There are some pretty neat puzzles to be solved and battling ghosts never got boring. Main problem was that the game was way too confining, the mansion is even smaller than single levels in Mario 64. Graphics - 9 Okay, so they're not as good as Rogue Leader's, but the Nintendo characters and ghosts are animated extremely well. I loved how interactive the environment was, with dust flying everywhere and furniture falling over. Sound - 10 Sure it used the same background music the whole game, but it did an excellent job of keeping the creepy mood of the game. The sound the ghosts made whenever they popped up was also really unnerving. Value - 5 Here's where it hurts. Luigi's mansion is a really short game. I mean it's really, really, short. I got to the 3rd floor in my first day of playing it. Of course, perhaps it's brevity is why the background music and gameplay don't seem repetitive. But even though it's so short there really isn't any reason to play it a second time. Reviewer's Tilt - 8 As my first Gamecube game, I was naturally very excited about this game and had fun with it, though I'm not sure it was worth paying $50 for. Nonetheless, Luigi's mansion is the second scariest game I've ever played, behind only Jumpstart 4th grade (I know, it's sad but I was 13 at the time and you didn't expect my parents to let me buy resident evil now did you?)
