The best launch title, but not AMAZING...

Recommend: I'd recommend this game to anyone who loves the Mario series of games. Even though it doesn't star Mario as the main character, it fits in nicely with the Mario universe. Even if you don't like the Mario series, it's unique and original enough for anyone else to like it. Not Recommend: I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone who ABSOLUTELY HATES the Mario series of games. There's still that little Mario vibe in this game, and if you just plain hate it then you will just plain hate Luigi's Mansion.

Compared To Other GameCube games: For a launch title, it was the best one and really good. But compared to later releases on the GameCube, this one doesn't really hold up as well to the likes of WindWaker, Twilight Princess, Super Mario Sunshine, Metroid: Prime, and others. It's still a great game especially if you're a nostalgic player, and even with all those other games you will still enjoy this one.

Luigi's Mansion was one of the few exclusive Nintendo titles at the GameCube launch. Out of all the selections, I knew I had to get this one. I had played a demo of it at a Target once, and it really got me excited. At the time, it was one of the best games I ever played. It wasn't really a long game, but being young at the time it still took me quite some time. The difficulty of the game was just right, not too easy at all, but not frustratingly hard. The "boss fights" in the game were really fun, too, and trying to capture all the ghosts was quite a rewarding task. The best part of the game for me is the final boss fight with King Boo/Bowser. That was an amazing part of the game as it brought back characters from previous Mario games, and you get to actually see and rescue Mario afterwards. It had a nice Mario vibe throughout the game, plus a whole new one which I was disapointed at the fact that there wasn't going to be a sequel. Looking at the game now, however, it's not as good as it was. It's still fun, but I've played much better. And I've also realized how repetitive the game can get, which makes you not want to play it for a while. Now that the GameCube run is done and looking back at all it's games (which wasn't nearly as much as PS2 and Xbox), this really brings back memories. It was one of the few really good exclusive titles for the system, which is what really kept it alive. Without Mario, we would have to rely on just Zelda, Metroid, and third-party titles like Sonic The Hedgehog. So I'm glad this game came out, and you should at least give it a try or rent it first.

Overall: An amazing game when it came out, an ok game now. Since it's probably really cheap to buy now, it's probably worth the money ans I'd suggest getting it. I traded it in a while ago, but I missed it soon after and regret doing it. Try it!
