"One of the best PSP puzzle games out there! Even if it is pretty much more of the same as the first one"

User Rating: 9 | Lumines II PSP
Here's the sequel to the brilliant sleeper hit puzzle game on the PSP. The premise is simple: line up same-coloured blocks in square shapes of four or more and link them together. A beam travels across the screen at various speeds (depending on the level), wiping out any of these linked blocks so the trick is to get as many combos going before they are swept away. This time around the backgrounds are made up of music videos from the likes of Black Eyed Peas, Gwen Stefani and Chemical Brothers. This can be very distracting! Multi-player, a shape creating puzzle mode and Time-Attack are excellent for short bursts of play. If there is one criticism it's that there are few changes from the original game. Still, it's the best PSP puzzler by far.

Presentation: 7/10 Colourful and an assault on the senses at time. Pretty basic menus and options though.

Graphics: 6/10 It's just different coloured blocks. Add more points if you like the background music vids. They soon end up buried behind all the blocks though.

Sound: 7/10 Down to personal preference. Better than the first game as it has some big names this time around.

Gameplay: 10/10 Once you get into it. This is the most addictive thing since Tetris. Easy controls well suited to the PSP system.

Lasting Appeal: 7/10 Single games can last for over an hour and a half. This cripples your fingers. You'll want to keep beating your high scores though. Shorter challenges available too.
