the killer-app for the psp

User Rating: 9.2 | Lumines: Oto to Hikari no Denshoku Puzzle PSP
you open the box of you're new psp system, but what's this? you don't have a game! oh no, what's a new psp owner going to do? how about buying the most addictive game to hit you're hand-held since tetrius hit you're gameboy? that game is called LUMINES, lumines is a puzzle game, yes a puzzle game, but don't break out thinking cap just yet, it has music, colorful block, simple gameplay, and plenty to offer. yes it's like barney on crack. anyway, lumines is sonys answer to their crapy line-up of games. ok, sound, you will love the music in lumines, the techno, rap, and soft core rock, puts lumines in the limelight. the music plays while you're setting blocks, sounds lame right? well you'll be wrong my friend, because every time you move a block, it'll make a sound, set a block on top another it makes a sound. the sounds goes with the levels music. this falls into the gameplay side, ok, it's simple, it the x button and the block (block contains two different colors) will rotate. all you have to do creat box made with the same colors.create a box of all blue block and wait for the "delete line" to pass. ok this harder than i thought. just look up a video or something, sorry i can't explain it. "but won't game get boreing playing the same level over and over?" why no my friends, while you're playing the music and background will change. this shows you beat that level, this keeps the game freash and fun. there are modes...ok there are 6 modes, lets see there's single player, 2 player, vs cpu mode, single skin mode, puzzle mode (i'll explain that later), and time mode. puzzle mode (ok now you can put your thanking caps on) makes you put your lumines skills, and your thinking skill to the edge. i have passed only 2 puzzles, but you'll have to creat a cross, a big boz, and... a dog? ok can the developers even do these things? right the review. lumines is a rare game on the psp, i say it's rare because it's the only game i can say is worth the price of $40. but the price has gone down. so if you can look for the cheaper ones. yes it has multiplayer, yes it keeps up with "all" of your stats, and yes your girlfriend can play it too, heck your grandma could proubly play it and love it! and you can expect i'll have a review on lumines 2 later this year.
