#1 Game for the PSP
At first Lumines may come off as simple or shallow, but you need to keep at it. I got this game the first day it was out and I still play it and I still find new tricks to do huge combos. That's what it's all about, the joy you feel when you do this insanely huge combos and get this insane huge scores. Granted it takes a good amount of time to get a real high score (roughly 3 hours to get up near 999,999). It's worth the time though. This game also uses a "ticker bar" which erases the blocks instead of them just going away when you make a 2 x 2 block of the same color. Learning how to put the blocks together to most efficiently make combos and timing the ticker bar to get bonus multiplayers takes practice, but pays off in the end.
The graphics in this game are awesome because there are "levels" in a puzzle game which you don't find to often. Every now and then the backgrounds and the colors will switch up and they all look awesome.
The soundtrack is fantastic, I love listening to it while I'm playing and while I'm not playing. The sounds switch up with the graphics.
The game also features a few other modes such as a versus multiplayer and versus computer along with a puzzle mode in which you must make the shapes it assigns to you. Versus multiplayer is good for some fun, versus the computer ramps up the difficulty a bit quick though. The single player mode is where the real fun is.
This game is all about rewards, you put in practice and work and you unlock skins and you get bigger and bigger scores every time. It's a fantastic puzzler and still my favorite game for the PSP. If you have a PSP then there isn't one reason why you should not own this game. Enjoy.
