Not for 'hard core' MMO'rs, but for casuals..

User Rating: 7 | Mabinogi PC
Most of your hard core MMO'rs seems to think that a free game should be up to par with what they've played in the past.

Mabinogi is a very difficult online experience; it's not like what you'd expect from Everquest or Everquest 2, or any other P2P games.

Sadly, one of the main problems with this game are with gold spammers, as evidenced by me seeing them almost every time I log in, they are usually only present on one channel.

The thing is? Some people here seemed to have thought they only exist in this game, the fact of the matter is 'all' games have these type of spammers, EQ and EQ 2 are not above that, and nor is WoW. While some games, like Eve-online and CoH (City of Heroes) have excellent systems in place to stop these spammers and sellers, a Free MMO game doesn't have that type of resources.

The other thing about this game is the character design and your appearance, you can make yourself appear as young as ten, or as old as seventeen. You age once every Saturday, which determines that a year has passed in-game.

Different items and titles are only available to certain characters at a certain age, for example, most of your school based clothing are only available to ten-fourteen year old characters. While the more adult-like clothing is only available to seventeen and above.

However, like all free MMOs, you 'can' put money into this game to purchase items or 'rebirths' which allows you to reborn your character at a younger age, yet keep all his skills.

And, speaking of skills, I noticed quite a few reviewers complain about such things in the game about why you have a skill for this or a skill for that... let me bold one question to ya - were you born with the knowledge to cut down wood? Or to plant trees in the backyard? No, you were TAUGHT how to do that, meaning you learned a skill whilst in real life.

Though the player base is somewhat sad, since most of the players seem to only know how to use 'short type' or letters in place of actual words. It's sad really, but that's what the new generation wants.

Other than that little rant, Mabinogi is a fun game for those who want something casual to do - it's not really for your hard core MMO players.
