Not for Guitar hero players, but those who appreciate classical music will get more out of this.
Ok, lets be honest here, the graphics are a just a near mess. There nothing terribly special about them, they just get the job done. On the plus side, every level has a dark and a light version and its fun to see them switch between the worlds based on how well or poorly you play. Then again, since you'll probably be concentrating on the circles and button presses, you probably won't notice the graphics anyway with the exception of the creepy loading screen bear on child mode.
Gameplay: 5/10
On the plus side, its simple and easy to understand. On the negative side, its difficult to pull off. The game asks you to push the PS2 controller buttons at a certain pressure of either light, medium, or heavy, and it ends up being a test in patience to actually press the buttons at its odd demands. The difficulty in this games mostly comes from the annoying test in patience that this demands from your fingers. Child mode has a more forgiving approach though of only requiring buton timing and never killing you, so its fun for just listening to the classical music.
Sound: 9/10
It automatically loses a point for that stupid fairy's annoying voice, but other than that, I like the selection of inviting classical music for newcomers to begin to understand classical music and its wide variety and selection possibilties. When you play notes wrong or at different intensities then asked, or simply hit them too early or too late, the games sound responds accordingly. Its a very interesting technology that I might like to see in other games and, considering that this is a music game, it should have good sound.
Overall: 6.5/10
The terrible graphics and annoying gameplay bring it down a few notches, but the sound and overall experince brings it back up. I'd still recomend playing it, but don't expect to be blown away either. If you're looking for a rhythm game, you can certainly do better, but if you're looking for a differnt music game experince, check the bargain bins for "Mad Maestro"
