Mad Max is a game that does just enough right to not be a complete disappointment. That being said, there is still one question that needs to be answered. If it isn't a complete disappointment, is it worth playing? My opinion is that if your a super fan of the Mad Max world, and aren't looking forward to playing Fallout 4 in November, then play the game. But, if you aren't heavily invested in the world of Mad Max then this game won't hold your attention longer than a dozen hours, and with Fallout 4 coming out very soon there is no reason to play a sub-par wasteland game.
However, if you are one of those people who is interested in playing Mad Max you may be wondering what this game does right. Maybe you need a reason to convince yourself to play this game. I can't promise I'll give you one but there are some areas where Mad Max deserves some praise.
The main area where Mad Max deserves praise is its world. Now, I'm not saying there are great characters, because there aren't any, and the games landscape looks the same no matter where you are, but all of these elements seem stripped straight from the movies. This games ability to capture the feel of the movies is its greatest accomplishment. I am sad to say, because I really wanted to love this game, that that is all that Mad Max does right.
So now let us take a look at what Mad Max does wrong, and I'll focus on the one main reason why this game gets a 7 out of 10 and nothing higher. This reason is that the whole game feels like a managing resource simulator. Then Mad Max commits one of the worse sins in gaming and ties this bland game-play together with a story that is barely there at all. The main objective of this entire game is to upgrade your car, which in the moment feels amazing especially when you're using your upgraded car to destroy enemy cars, but for the main focus of a story it feels very empty.
Mad Max does very few things right and everything else about this game feels okay at times but ultimately repetitive and time wasting. Mad Max is good but doesn't do enough to be worth your money or time.
Final verdict - 7/10
