Great XBLA game for your bucks. Addictive and innovative.
This game truly shines in it's multiplayer:
Multiplayer is a bast with all the different characters, special abilities, and weapons. It truly feels like a Quake 3 or Unreal Tournament shooter arcade game. The different character weakness's and weapon modes add a whole lot of strategy to multiplayer games. The weapon modes are: Heat, Cold, Energy, and Impact... which almost each character has a certain weakness to and also resistance to. So if lets say, the character Magmor is weak to Cold, then he is resistant to Heat. Each weapon has 2 modes, heat and cold, or energy and impact. There are 5 multiplayer modes including CTF, Skirmish (Deathmatch), Team Skirmish, Avatar (where you use your avatars head and kill your buddies avatars), and Invasion Mode.
Invasion mode is something unique and special. In this mode, you and the enemy build your side of a map simultaneously. After it is built, you choose nodes and choose a spot for the base. When building is complete, both sides are put together and then you get a glimpse of what your enemy build. Invasion adds a whole new level of strategy because your can add long narrow corridoors or pinch points into your maps.
The single player is alot of fun also, with 10 levels and boss fights, it really keeps you entertained. Unfortunately it could have been longer. I don't know what SnuffDaddyNZ is talking about because sure, the beginning levels are suppose to be a little be easier, allowing players to adjust to the game. But after level 3, you better start killing or you will be dead. There are MANY places that require you to kill the enemy in order to move onto the next portion of the level. SnuffDaddyNZ, did you just play the demo with the first level? Also, you never mentioned the multiplay so i think your Review is totally irrelevant because it does not seem like you played the whole game. Anyways, i was thoroughly impressed with this game and i recommend it to anyone that enjoys shooters.
