GAMEPLAY
Gameplay is superb with new modes and tutorials to feed the experienced and train the rookies. The new features this year are in great number but none stands out more than the NFL Superstar mode. Filling the void and unanswered questions for football fans everywhere, what would it be like to live in the life of an NFL superstar? Madden replies in kind with the NFL Superstar mode. Taking you straight out of college and preparing mentally and physically for your first season on a draft pick. Of course the NFL life isn't bout playin the game...its bout looking good in all aspects for fans on and off the field. Get a haircut, some new assets to your football unifrom, some tats, and your ready to play. Create your custom character (With name, number, parents, and more!), look good, get an agent, some endorsements like movie roles, workout and train, move to bigger and better places, have your own fan website, and then your livin the life!
Also new among the features is allowing players to take current or custom teams head to head online. Battle in tournaments and whatnot. Other features present allow you to create-a-team, create-a-fan, create-a-player, and franchise your own time.
With gameplay, you'll have hours into days worth of playing time that will surely entertain at all times!
CONTROLS
Controls are solid in Madden's new title. Still present, the jukes, stiff arms, spins, turbo, hot routes, team control before the snap, and protecting the ball...with added control features known as Precision Passing, Truckstick, Hitstick, and Playmaker Control. These are all controlled by the Right Analog stick. Depending on the direction you push the stick, is how it will react. Tutorials will teach how to use these all new features.
Controlling your players in Madden can vary in difficulty. For beginners it takes hours to get use to but for experienced players, there isn't really no problem. But if you practice and study the tutorials, you can get use to the controls sooner or later. In general, there are so many controls its hard to remember them all but doing so is more than rewarding. They're hard, but can be fun.
GRAPHICS
Graphics for the modern consoles like XBOX and PS2 are of course not as good next to those of the next gen like the 360 but still look awesome and realistic. Players have realistic facial features that have reactions and defintion is realistic on all players. Players react to hits, catches, and all other essences of the game very well. Real enough to make you believe your controlling a real life game at times. Of course no game is without glitches but Madden is a title that has done well to try and eliminate those.
So if your graphics buff and look for realism, you'll find it here in this entertaining treat for the eyes.
SOUND
Tho the feel for a football game when it comes to sound can never be like the real thing because people react to anything that can happen, Madden 06' captures the essence. With the best spectatorship that any sports title has ever seen, Madden will make you feel at times that you're watching the real thing. Hits can give that bone crushing sound and all the grunts and groans of players can be heard with vivid relatibilty to the real thing. With modern day music to keep you entertained in the menus, in out of the game are complete for sound.
Like stated before, sound can never be perfect but if a sports title could come the closest to the real thing, it would have to be Madden.
