Sometimes you play a great game and think to yourself, "this game would be great if all they did was update a few things and keep it exactly the same every year", and Madden is testing that theory this year. This is almost literally Madden 05 in a new box with updated rosters. The new features aren't even really all that good. The total control passing is ok, it makes for not beating on the computer as bad, but it is just annoying when playing against friends who actually know how to get to your quarterback. The player mode is a wannabe attempt at the Inside The Park Baseball aspect of trying to be a player, but it is not even close to being any good. (Check out ITP if you have an interest in those sorts of things) Madden is still great, and always will be, which is a good thing it is the only choice you have now. Did EA spend too much time trying to get exclusivity to the NFL and not enough making the actual game? Does the fact that they have the only NFL game now mean they don't have to try as hard? You can argue up any theory but Madden is worth getting, in a few months when the price drops. If you have '05, don't buy '06.
